High Water

wHighWaterLine

April showers were a daily occurance last month in western PA.  Our lake was filled to the brim, at times threatening to spill over the top of the aging dam.  As a result the water crept over the bank and spilled into the yard.  The locals say it is as high as they can remember.

You can see in the photo that the lake remains higher than normal.  The debris edging the bank indicates  the high water mark for 2011.  As warm and sunny replaces cold and rainy the lake is slowly receding.  Soon the dock will be rolled into place and the dust blown off of the fishing poles.  Winter and early spring will be but a distant memory.

We are certainly blessed that the cottage remained dry this season.  That high water was just that, water higher than normal and not the serious flooding that is occuring along the Missisippi.
