Relocation

Project 15 - Day 87

The SC branch of the family is relocating; crossing the state line and moving north about 2 hours to Hickory, NC.

I know all about relocating. I know that it is scary, exciting, exhilarating, exhausting and sad. Sad because with all of the fun and interesting new comes saying good-bye to the old and familiar. It is hard to bid farewell to the people and places you have grown to love. We did it 3 times. Yet every time we moved the door was opened for new people and places to love. I'm pretty certain S & B will find the same to be true.

What it means for old Grammy is the relatively easy one day drive to Greenville becomes either one very loooonnng day in the car or a two day journey and the loss of those cheap Allegiant air fares. It also means new locations to explore with my camera. That's not a bad trade off. (Except for the cheap air fare...that part stabs like a knife to the heart.)

Next week S & B are heading to Hickory in search of some temporary housing. The Kid and I get to babysit. Four whole days home alone with the grandkids. Talk about exciting, exhilarating and exhausting. It also means that without Mom & Dad around to keep things on schedule and running smoothly we get to break the rules. You know things like ice cream for dinner and filling the grocery cart on the whim of a four year old.

There is one rule that I assure you will hold fast and that is bed time. At 8:00 p.m. prayers will be said and lights will be dimmed. Because at 8:05 Pappy and Grammy will be snoring.

That exhausting part....it's a killer.

Congratulations are in order! The stress part can come later. Sorry about the added distance and air fare for you.
